Is Joe Doucet The New Yves Behar?
Your first response after looking at one of Joe Doucet’s designs is that it is a step into eternity. Actually, that’s the second response. The first is, “I want that.” Since Joe Doucet of eponymous firm JDXP is foremost a product designer, this response is a good thing.
Look at Joe’s design for the JX1 electric vehicle. It’s the first car since the Porsche 911 that I’ve ever truly wanted.
Or the floating bubbly chair for billionaire pools. Which do I want first — the billion, or the float raft? It’s not an easy decision.
His new Airiva Wind Turbine Wall should be installed everywhere, at once. Just to watch this energy wall in operation is like staring at an art installation. It should be hanging on the outside wall at The Walker. Or SFMOFA.
Joe Doucet’s products provide a sense of eternity because your gut says that his delicious design will be smack for years to come.
His witty LDC 1 automobile is for the last person not confined to an autonomous driving machine — and can still hit the open road unfettered. “A somewhat irrational, highly impractical, lust inducing driving machine. The last of its kind — the last car one might be permitted to actually drive,” says Doucet. Airbags optional.
