Our colleague Martina Skangalova has been sick in Portugal for the last week. Perfect timing to join the over one million people who have geeked out over OpenAI’s new ChatGPT.
Ask a question, get a (generally) intelligible answer. Chat GPT is capable of understanding natural human language and generating thoughtful human-like prose after being fed a prompt, writes Ruiqi Chen. According to their website, Chat GPT is able to “answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests.” OpenAI is funded in part by Elon Musk, which puts the research and deployment company on everyone’s watch list.
Artificial intelligence product experiments like this one are tweaks, edging their way up the great chain of being from bee to frog, ultimately comprehensive comprehension that fulfills Open AI’s mission (according to Crunchbase) to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.
“The craze surrounding these releases lasts for about three to six months,” remarks one AI expert. “Before they are replaced by the next advance.”
