Solar Becomes Fastest-Growing Form For Sustainable Energy
Don’t let those photogenic shots of wind farms fool you. Solar has become the fastest growing segment in sustainable energy, fueling over 250,000 new jobs into the economy over the past year and tens of thousands of installs. In fact, Solar industry research data tells us that Solar has been growing year over year at 42% on average for the past decade.
There several reasons for growth. The first is that battery efficiency, crucial to storing the sun’s power, is improving. More importantly, the cost of Solar reduces 20- to 40-percent each time that Solar customer sales hit a sweet spot on the supply/demand curve. This steady lowering of costs — it happens every few months — has been happening year over year.
“Solar energy in the United States is booming,” declares the Solar Energy Institute of America.
The sun is also a star and the fact is that the stars are aligning for Solar energy. Solar is being installed not just in single family residences, townhomes and apartment buildings. Corporations like Apple, Costco, IKEA, Macy’s, Kohl’s and Amazon.com also recognize the efficiencies of solar, and have turned their strip mall rooftops and warehouses into solar farms.
Harnessing this previously unoccupied square footage must be putting real estate CFOs in their happy place.
